Salta is an interesting city. While rather dusty, dry and a little dirty it had a old colonial beauty to it. Stunning architecture lined the Plaza de Armas and old buildings poked their facades out amongst grotty modern ones.
Our main reason to be in Salta was for Fred to try and catch a Golden Dorado. A long story with much frustration eventually let to us hiking up a magnificent and pristine mountain river and Fred (and Bron) catching beautiful Dorado.
This was also the first time that we hired a car on our travels. Driving on the wrong (right) side definitely threw us peeps who are used to driving on the right (left) side of the road. Salta possesses many (large) circles, which were now backwards and in reverse, and Argentineans pride themselves with their ability to not stop (or slow down) at the (mostly unmarked and unsigned) intersections.
We think our drive to get out of Salta into the countryside possibly resulted in more arguments than we have had the entire trip! Fun and games but we survived :)
